1999 Isuzu Rodeo Review, Ryan Hoeft, From Mililani, Haw
Add Your Review! Rodeo
| | Model | Rodeo | | | What things have gone wrong with the car? | Not backed by dealer. Huge repair problems. Extremely expensive to repair. | | | General comments? | The Rodeo looks good. My wife liked the size for hauling our three kids around. We bought a used vehicle with 30K miles on it. The 4 cylinder engine is woefully underpowered. At 50,000 miles the timing belt broke and bent most of the valves. Dealer wanted a second trust deed on my house to fix the damage. The parts alone cost nearly $1000! I have learned that there is a known problem with the 2.2L engine breaking timing belts prematurely, so I am fighting with the dealer to fix it. They, so far, refuse. Once fixed, the Rodeo is for sale. This is the second Isuzu I have owned (first was a Trooper). I should have learned from that experience (two blown head gaskets, water pump, radiator) but figured they had improved their vehicles. I was way wrong. I have owned my last Isuzu. My neice wanted to buy a fairly new Rodeo, but I talked her out of it. They are not good vehicles and the repair parts are very hard to get and outrageously EXPENSIVE. |
